Speaking. Coaching. Workshops.

Bad Medicine is the improbable story of Matthew D. Hirschberg. His extraordinary journey serves as proof that any obstacle in life can be overcome. Matt’s story is one of redemption and a great reminder that personal responsibility helps pave the road to success. From his early days involving drugs, prison and obesity to his current stage of life where he is a successful entrepreneur, business owner and speaker, this book helps its readers reexamine and take stock of their own lives through his “Life Prescriptions” – the proven life lessons he has learned from his unbelievable experiences. Once hitting rock bottom, Matt had to pick up the pieces of a shattered life and try to put them back together. He improved his health, continued his education and strengthened his faith. Today, Matt is blessed with a career that allows him to help other people by improving lives one event at a time. After experiencing his story and the words of wisdom he has to share, one’s life will inevitably change for the better.

Believe More To Achieve More

In Matt’s most popular speech, he asks the all-important question of his audiences: What do you believe is possible? To achieve more than others think is possible you have to believe more than others think is possible. What you believe shapes your entire reality. If he can overcome being a high school dropout, addiction, obesity, and six felony convictions, how much more can each and every one in the audience achieve? The answer is simple…they can achieve exactly what they BELIEVE they can achieve!

Fitness For Sobriety

In this highly requested speech, Matt explains addiction as a disease and how exercise can help people overcome common obstacles during the recovery process such as participation, compliance and the “I’m sober, now what?” syndrome. Matt relays how exercise can reduce cravings, improve mood and self-confidence therefore reducing the risk of relapse. Matt gives tips on how to start and maintain a healthy lifestyle to engage in during times previously spent getting high as well as establishing a new contact sphere.

Faith: The Prescription For Life

This is a powerful speech where Matt focuses on the role his faith played in overcoming adversity in his life as well as his continued success. He relays stories of God’s protection throughout troubled times including a drug overdose and four years in federal prison. Matt also addresses the James 2:14 principle of faith without action: at the end of the day, you must get off your knees, on your feet, and take ownership of your life.

Matt offers a glimpse into his life that most others would not be willing to share, but does so in a way that helps inspire others that they can overcome any situation. As a professional triathlete, I’m always looking for books to provide motivation, and this book definitely did so and exemplifies the Ironman motto that “Anything is Possible.”

I retired from law enforcement after 27 years and specialized in highway interdiction and recognizing substance abuse. Matt’s book tells the other side, the side of addiction and how much it can take from someone’s life and how it can lead you down a dark path. An amazing story which is uplifting and leaves the reader wanting more.
